Currency is led by David Barnes, strategic creative director.

After a highly awarded stint in the ad industry he founded the frontier creative and strategic based brand consultancy Principals, before forming currency ideas in 2001.

His role is to provide clear, simple and effective solutions, in whatever media, that will create reward. Currency exists because broad-based, big-budget, mass-media campaigns no longer work.

He works closely with specialist teams to align the brand building process with building a client's business.

Over his career he has worked alongside clients in a wide spectrum of market categories, including Telstra, Optus, Singtel, Coles Myer, Unilever, Capilano, Cadbury, Singapore Airlines, St.George Bank, Westpac, Jaguar and Rover, Hyundai, Foxtel and Lend Lease.

His work for non-profit organisations include campaigns for The Guide Dogs, Ted Noffs Foundation and most recently, Achieve Australia.
